The term “sensitive personal data” refers to the various categories of personal data for which European and other data protection laws require special treatment, which under certain circumstances also includes the requirement for explicit consent.

Do we share your personal data with other LPDG companies and external parties?

We may share personal data with other LPDG companies that may be located in other countries. It may be necessary for us to provide our contractual service providers and consultants access to the personal data you provide (e.g., if we conduct a joint event, forum, or webinar).

However, we will take necessary steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection for your personal data.

As an international company, we may route or store the personal data we collect within LPDG or with our service providers in accordance with the respective data protection laws.

We take reasonable steps to maintain the security of the personal data collected. Regarding your use of our website, you should be aware that information and personal data may flow over networks that are not secure, and may be accessed and used by individuals who are not authorized to receive such data. We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g., when communicating via email) may have security gaps. A complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Our website may occasionally contain links to or from the pages of our partners or social media. If you follow a link to any of these pages, please note that these pages each have their own privacy policies, and we have no responsibility or liability for these policies or pages. Please check the respective policies before submitting personal data to these pages.

How long will your data be stored and what rights do you have regarding your stored data?

We store personal data only as long as it is necessary for the respective collection purpose or you have granted your consent, unless there are other legal obligations such as commercial and tax retention periods.

You have the right to know whether we hold personal data about you. If this is the case, you can request access to this personal data and its correction if the data is incorrect.

In principle, we do not make decisions solely based on automated measures; however, if we do, you have the right to object.

How does LPDG use personal data for marketing purposes?

The majority of the personal data we collect and use for marketing purposes relates to individual employees of our clients with whom we have an existing business relationship. We may also obtain contact information from public sources, including content published on public and social media websites, to establish initial contact with a relevant person at a client or other company.

In accordance with applicable regulations regarding marketing, we send promotional emails to individuals at our clients or other companies with whom we want to establish or maintain a business relationship. Our targeted email messages (e.g., in the context of a mailing campaign for trade fairs, forums, webinars, business breakfasts) include cookies and similar technologies that allow us to learn whether you have opened an email message sent by us.

When you click on a link in a marketing email sent by LPDG, we use a cookie to record which pages were viewed, which hyperlinks were clicked, and which content was downloaded from our websites.

Targeted emails from LPDG may include additional information on data protection, as required by applicable law.

Where do we store your data?

Like all large companies, LPDG uses a database to manage and track our marketing activities. Our CRM databases include personal data of individuals at our clients and other companies with whom we already have a business relationship or want to establish one. The personal data used for these purposes includes relevant business information, such as contact information, publicly available information, your responses to targeted emails (including activities on the web to follow the links contained in our emails), and other business information provided by LPDG employees based on their personal interaction with you. If you wish to be excluded from the CRM databases, please contact us at Data Protection.

What rights do you have to restrict/block marketing communication?

You can exercise your right to block marketing communications by checking certain boxes in the forms we use to collect your personal data, or by using the opt-out mechanism in the emails we send you. You can also unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time or request the removal of your personal data from our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database. Please contact us regarding this matter at Data Protection.

In these cases, we will retain a minimum amount of personal data to record that you have opted out of marketing communications to prevent your re-contact.

Who can you contact regarding questions about data protection/rights/complaints?

Please contact us at Data Protection if

  • you have a further question about how LPDG protects your personal data;
  • you would like to exercise your data protection rights (e.g., a copy of the personal data we hold about you);
  • you would like to unsubscribe from the marketing communications sent to you;
  • you would like to have your personal data removed from our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases;
  • you have concerns regarding our use of your personal data;
  • you would like to file a complaint, or
  • you would like to address a more general question regarding data protection to us.

Are you subject to a data protection authority?

You have the right to file a complaint with a data protection authority regarding our processing of your personal data. The data protection authority responsible for LPDG is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
